News from the Library

 

Hello all and welcome newcomers:

This link is to the new titles for the last couple of months:

You will see all the hard work of my two library school students, Ashley Sparks and Daniel Blitz, in the “Fall 2011 New Books” list.  Ashley has been working through the books that have never been added to Library collection.  She is completing groups by author, such as Michael Gibson’s many books on roses. Daniel has taken on working with the floras (books on native plants of a particular place) that were still in the old classification system.  These are a great challenge since all the easy ones have been done.  The Saturday librarian, Jessica Holada, has been working on the actual new books.  There are fewer of those, because we almost finished working on last fiscal year’s books and I’ve just worked on ordering the ones for this fiscal year.  There are several nice botanical illustration books in that group.

If you want to see the really new knowledge check the “Fall 2011 New Magazine Articles” at the link above. Bothalia, the South African botany journal, had some very interesting articles.  Let me know if you are interested in any of these articles.

The Bookworms story time themes and dates for 2 months are below:

The story time is recommended for children ages 3-8.

This is a free program for members and free with admission for non-members.

All sessions will be held Wednesdays at 10 am.

The Arboretum Library hours are:

Open Tuesday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Open Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Open Sundays, 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Come visit!

Remember we are circulating to Arboretum staff and members.  The circulation period for books is 3 weeks with 2 renewals if no one else wants the item.  You can renew by e-mail, phone or in person.  The circulation period for current magazines is 3 days with 2 renewals if no one else wants the item.
