The band features selections mostly from the swing era, with a dose of 50's Sinatra and 60's hipsters. Join us as we "Play Among the Stars"!

Their three-part harmony is reminiscent of classic trios such as The Andrews Sisters, The Kings Sisters and The McGuire Sisters.

Educational Landscape Designs
April 26, 2012
Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD) California Chapter, Greater Los Angeles District
Mission Statement:
The Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD) is an international organization dedicated to promoting the highest professional standards for landscape designers. The Greater Los Angeles District is dedicated to providing inspiring and educational programs for design professionals and passionate gardeners and promotes the Sustainable Sites Initiative best practices for low-impact landscape design.
Project Description: A Wildlife Habitat Garden
As we continue to loose valuable wilderness, it becomes ever more important to provide habitat for animals, birds, butterflies, bees and other insects in our home gardens. This display and demonstration garden will illustrate the beauty and importance of providing food, water, shelter and nesting sites for these creatures. The installation will include a variety of native trees, flowering nectar, berry and other food-source plants, a fountain feature and a nesting box display. APLD volunteers will be available during the festival to answer questions and provide habitat garden and non-chemical pest control information to interested attendees. APLD is pleased to be featuring Monrovia Plants in their display.

University of California Los Angeles (UCLA Extension) Student Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (SCASLA)
Mission Statement:
Landscape architects practice the aesthetic design and composition of built and natural environments. This calls for an extensive knowledge of design theory, technical competence, and a commitment to the stewardship and conservation of natural and constructed resources. Today, typical projects range in scope from residential to institutional, and in type from urban planning and design to restoration of historical sites and the preservation of natural ones.
To ensure a high standard of professional practice, California (together with 46 other states, and two Canadian Provinces) requires that individuals practicing landscape architecture must be licensed. Joining us at the Festival is the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) official Student Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (SCASLA).
The UCLA Extension Landscape Architecture Program is a four-year extension program and it is approved by the Landscape Architects Technical Committee under the State of California Architects Board to meet the education requirements for licensure in California.
Project Description:
This student installation will communicate the importance of how to manage and how to improve use of resources, as well as how to increase the health and vitality of outdoor environment and habitat. The installation will show the different types of soil in our gardens, how organic products can improve the soil, and how to use water wisely with the best irrigation practices and water storage for the garden.
The designed set of modular planter boxes will include a vertical wall of plants that will be visually pleasing, practical, and universally accessible, including a visual profile of soil, with plant materials and water percolation. The plantings will focus on natives and low water-needs plants, and will show how to include edibles throughout the garden.
Thank You to Karla Stahlman
