Wow! The Arboretum Library's San Jose State University Library and Information Science Intern, Kristin Abraham, created an online exhibit of early Southern California nursery catalogs while she was here last semester.

The exhibit concentrates on fruit and vegetable catalogs from the early 1900s until World War II.
It is a wonderful grouping of materials from our earliest collections. She also made a display of them in the cabinet in the middle of the Library. Come see them in person!

November is the time we think about eating pumpkins. Known botanically as a fruit (related to squash, gourd and melon), pumpkin is popularly referred to as a vegetable. After the autumn harvest, we savor pumpkin in pies, breads, muffins, soups, lattes, ice cream and even salsa. Not only is it delicious, pumpkin also is nutritious, rich in vitamins A and C, beta-carotene and fiber. So enjoy pumpkin mania with this yummy recipe we'd like to share with you. If you use a fresh pumpkin, save the seeds to plant in July.
