Ways to Give

Thank you for your interest in supporting the Los Angeles Arboretum Foundation by making a tax-deductible donation (nonprofit tax ID #95-1582650).  You will be contributing to an improved quality of life, increased science literary and an enhanced appreciation for the natural world.  The greater Los Angeles community, including San Gabriel Valley residents, students and visitors from around the world will benefit from your generosity.

There are many ways to support the Los Angeles Arboretum Foundation (LAAF). Your donation will be designated to annual support where it is most needed, or you may specify an area of interest on your donation form.  Please take a look at the following gift options.  We welcome your questions. Tax-free Charitable IRA Gifts End this Year!

Do you have an IRA?  Are you at least 70 1/2?  You can avoid a big tax bite by transferring funds directly from your IRA to the Los Angeles Arboretum Foundation, and help the garden you love!  As charitable gifts, required minimum distributions contributed directly to LAAF avoid becoming taxable income.  This tax incentive lasts only until December 31, 2011. Contact your IRA administrator to get the required forms for charitable gifts. Please consult your tax advisor for individual advice on charitable IRA donations. Plan Your donation

Your may find that a planned gift will allow you to make a more substantial contribution to the Arboretum than you may have thought possible.  A planned gift can have major tax advantages for you and your loved ones.  For a few examples of planned gifts, Click Here

Match Your Donation

Many employers will match your donations to the Los Angeles Arboretum Foundation dollar-for-dollar, including monthly pledges.  Simply request a matching gift form from your company's human resources office and fill it out to initiate the match. Memorials & Tributes

Benches - Memorialize a loved one or pay tribute to a friend or family member with a wooden bench, including a personalized message on a brass plaque.  Location options are available at pre-designated sites.  Final site selection is subject to Arboretum approval. Trees - Beautiful mature trees in the garden may be adopted or new plantings may be selected from scheduled additions to the Arboretum's collections. Your tree selection includes a personalized recognition plaque.  Final tree selection is subject to Arboretum approval.  For more detailed information Click Here

Tribute and Memorial Donations - We are honored to accept living tributes or memorial donations celebrating the life of a loved one who has found inspiration in the gardens. We can provide language for your memorial or tribute.  We will also notify you of the names of donors to your memorial.  Each donor will receive a tree recognition card for their gift.  Your loved one's name along with the donors' names to the memorial will be listed in the member magazine.

Memorial Services - You may additionally wish to hold a memorial service at the Arboretum. Services are subject to a rental fee based on the number of participants. Refreshments can be arrange through the Peacock Cafe. Please note that services may not be held during public hours.

Give to The Arboretum Library

Library Pledges

In order to better service the Los Angeles area community, we are in the process of converting our card catalog from a manual format to an easy accessible digital resource. This means greater accessibility to our library for the general public. If you, your family, your friends, or your neighbors are interested in participating in a botanical or garden related project it will be easier to access the wealth of information we have available at The Arboretum Library. Converting the library to digital format is an extensive and all-inclusive project. If you have experience fundraising for a non-profit organization and would like to donate your time or you would like to make a monetary pledge to the Library please contact Susan Eubank.

Magazine Subscriptions

The Arboretum Library has subscriptions to three hundred current periodical titles on subjects ranging from gardening, horticulture, botany, California native plant life, environmental issues, and agriculture. As a donation you might consider renewing a subscription or soliciting a magazine subscription for us.

Book Donations

New or used books and other reading materials are always welcome. Donations that do not fit into our collection or duplicate items we already own are sold at the Library’s Book Sales to raise funds for new purchases. When a book is donated to the library a special arboretum bookplate with the donor’s name will be included within the book. If you are wondering how you can help expand the library, please check out our Wish List.
