Inter-City Cactus Show & Sale August 11-12, 9am-5pm

Cactus and succulent lovers of Southern California and beyond have been coming together every August for a competitive display of some of the best grown cultivated plants. Not only are the plants wonderful, but in every pot the growers try to capture the essence of the natural habitat of the plants. Presented by the Los Angeles, Long Beach, and San Gabriel Valley Cactus and Succulent societies. Regular admission applies.

Preserve & Ferment Series:  Salsa August 11, 10am-12pm

Reap the rewards of tomato season longer. Join Brie Wakeland, food preservationist, for a workshop on how to safely preserve salsa at home. Class includes a sampling of various salsas and a small jar to take home.

Pasadena Pops Bernstein at 100 August 18. 5:30-10pm

Hypertufa Pot Workshop August 25 10am-12pm

Old stone sinks and animal troughs have been used to grow plants for many years. Today, they are scarce and very expensive. But now, we can make them from hypertufa, an artificial medium with absorbent properties similar to tufa rock. It is lighter than regular concrete, and will not be damaged by freezing after it is completely cured. You will be making a hypertufa planting pot!

Bridesmaids Outdoor Movie Screening August 25, 5:30-10pm

The fountain scene in this movie was filmed at the Arboretum.  Enjoy an outdoor screening of the popular movie about competition between the maid of honor and a bridesmaid over who is the bride’s best friend. Presented by Street Food Cinema.  A fee event
