February 9 – Imprinted Images Formed into Cylinders, Cups, Pitchers, or Plates
Students will be shown images of the Art of Ikebana and the ceramic vessels used in displaying the art form and learn how to make a slab. Choosing from a selection of samples, students will create imprints onto the clay surface producing images and patterns. The imprinted slab can be turned into a cylinder form, a cup, a pitcher, or a plate. Collage work can be incorporated if so desired. Work will be covered with glue and painted with Tempera paints.

February 23 – Clay Inlays
Students will learn how to make a clay slab and cut it into a desired shape. They can pre-draw their ideas, transfer their images onto the clay surface, then create a design by imbedding them into the clay. Using abstract or realistic styles, students can then construct a scene replicating their idea in abstract or realistic styles by incising the clay, adding relief work, and with the inlay of parts. Students can pre-draw their ideas and transfer their images onto the clay surface. Finished work will be covered with glue and painted with Tempera paints.
