Cub Scouts
PROGRAMS OFFERED:
Tigers: My Tiger Jungle
Tiger scouts will embark on a tour of the Arboretum while completing hands on activities, as outlined in their scout books. We will go on a 1-foot hike to identify local plants and animals to find out how these animals are similar to animals that live outside of California. By participating in the program, the scouts will complete all the requirements towards the My Tiger Jungle adventure.
Wolf: Call of the Wild
In this program, wolf scouts will identify outdoor essentials, identify local animals, learn basic knot skills and be conscious in the wilderness. This program is intended for scouts to be comfortable outside and learn how to be prepared for their first overnight camping trip. Wolves will complete all five requirements towards the Call of the Wild adventure.
Bear: Fur, Feathers, and Ferns
To earn the Furs, Feathers and Ferns badge, scouts will learn about the natural environment at the Arboretum! We will go for a hike to identify animals living on the grounds and learn how to identify their habitats. We will also learn about native plants and how it supports the wildlife ecosystem. After completion of this program, the scouts will have met all the requirements in this adventure.
Webelos: Into the Woods
During the Into the Woods program, scouts will have the opportunity to understand the connection between humans and the plant world. The scouts will learn how to identify parts of trees, identify native trees and develop a plan to plant and care for a tree. This program will meet all of the requirements for the Into the Woods required adventured.
Evening Hikes
On our Evening Hikes, Scouts will experience the Arboretum in a whole new light (or should we say, a whole new dark?)! We will weave our way through different biomes and learn fun plant facts while discovering the interesting ways nature changes as we shift from day to night, and exploring cultural stories humans have told to explain what they see in the natural world.
*Customized programs are considered on a case by case basis.
*Programs fulfill badge requirements only- Physical badges are not provided by the Arboretum.

DAYTIME PROGRAMS- 1.5 hours
The minimum cost for our standard daytime programs is $150:
This provides a program for up to 16 people (scouts and adults).
Each additional person requires a $15 fee.
– Maximum capacity: 25 people
– Refunds will not be issued for no-shows.
*Daytime programs are designed for Scouts and Scout Leaders/Parents only. We do not allow sibling participation in daytime Scout programs. Parents with siblings are welcome to visit the Arboretum during the duration of the program by way of general Arboretum admission and explore the gardens on their own while Scouts participate in their program.
EVENING HIKES PROGRAMS- 1.5 hours
The minimum cost for our Evening Hikes is $200:
This provides a program for up to 16 people (scouts and adults).
Each additional person requires a $20 fee.
– Maximum capacity: 25 people
– Refunds will not be issued for no-shows.
*Evening Hikes can accommodate siblings.
