Founder of the Association of Nature & Forest Therapy (ANFT), and author of “Your Guide to Forest Bathing: Experience the Healing Power of Nature”, Amos Clifford will make a special presentation about forest bathing.

Artist Talk: Rebecca Chamlee on her Casual Naturalist exhibit September 8, 2pm

Chamlee’s work examines the intersection of her artistic and scientific interests by collecting and cataloging the natural world around her. She is motivated to record, interpret and celebrate nature.

Join Brie Wakeland, food preservationist, for a workshop on easy techniques for making delicious soft cheeses and yogurt at home. Class includes a sampling of cheeses and yogurt, as well as, the option to take home a yogurt starter culture.

Family Adventures: Root Beer Making September 16, 10am

At this Oktoberfest for kids, learn the science behind root beer and make a batch to take home.

Jiaozi Dumpling Making September 16

This will be a cooking class that features each of us as a chef who will get to eat his or her own cooking—eight mouthwatering vegetarian dumplings know as jiaozi in Mandarin. There will be no pressure for performance as we’ll enjoy the slow and meditative way of making this wonderful food.

Crescent Farm: Amaranth Harvest September 21, 10am

Please join us, in honoring the Mother Earth, and continuing to strengthen our connections to the earth and each other through the harvesting of amaranth. Guillermo Vasquez, a spiritual leader from Guatemala, will be at the Arboretum to help lead the harvest.

Night Hike Expedition for Kids  September 22 & 29, 6pm

Explore the Arboretum at night and learn about nocturnal animals and our night sky. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Taste of Arcadia September 24, 5:30pm

The Chamber of Commerce’s annual fundraising event will dish up fare from more than 30 restaurants. Activities will include a no-host bar, raffle drawing, and live music. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Los Angeles Arboretum Foundation.

Members can enjoy the Arboretum at a different pace during our first Family Bike Night. Join us 4:30-7pm!

Aromatic Plants & Flowers  September 29

This workshop will lead you on a smell safari through some of our best and worst smelly plants. This is a great workshop for kids to learn about plants too.

Santa Anita Depot Tours

santa anita depotTour the inside of this historical treasure with a knowledgeable docent and learn about what the depot was like when it was operational. Tours are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10am-4pm, and Sundays 1-4pm.
