Garden Walk: Fabulous Fall Flowering Trees Saturday October 6; 10am

Join us for a walking tour to discover the many colorful flowers of the fall season.

Family Pumpkin Decorating Saturday, October 6, 10am-12pm

Join us to decorate pumpkins with natural materials. Pumpkins will be provided for children ages 7-11, who must be accompanied by an adult. $15 per child members; $20 per child non-members. Please register.

Night Hike Expedition for Kids  October 6, 6pm

Children ages 6 and under will explore the Arboretum at night and learn about nocturnal animals and our night sky. Children  must be accompanied by an adult. $12 per child members; $15 per child non-members; $5 per adult.

Sweet Breathing of Plants Indigenous Arts of the Neshkinukat Opening Reception & Artist Talk October 9, 6:30-8pm

The new exhibit features an exceptional collection of indigenous textiles, baskets, multimedia, photographs, and paintings by Neshkinukat artists. Elder Julia Bogany will give an opening blessing.  Tima Lotah Link, a Chumash cultural educator and basket weaver, is the featured speaker. Free; RSVP required, space limited

A Faery Hunt The King of the Fairies Saturday, October 13, 10:30-11:30am

Fairy Godmother Careen will take the audience on a gentle adventure through the gorgeous gardens to help fairies find the true King of Fairyland! Ages: 2-10 and the young at heart. $10 for members (adults and children) $15 for non-members (adults and children) includes admission

A History Talk: Sandalwood, Sealers & the Sandwich Isles Sunday, October 28, 1pm

Mitchell Hearns Bishop, the Arboretum’s Curator of Historical Collections, will discuss the use and cultivation of this small tree will be described as well as the unique features of the molecule that gives sandalwood its scent. Used since ancient times for its fragrance and as medicine it was also used in material culture.

Fall Plant Sale at the Gift Shop, Friday & Saturday, October 19 & 20;  9am-4pm

Tap into the tastes of traditional Bavarian festival fare, amidst the warm autumn breeze of the Arboretum’s Celebration Garden. Orange County Chrysanthemum Society Flower Show & Sale Saturday, October 20, 1-4pm; Sunday, October 21, 9am-4pm

At this year’s18th annual event see displays featuring nature’s favorite fall flower. The displays includes exhibition of rare chrysanthemums, topiaries, cascades and floral arrangements. Container grown plants in bloom will also be available.

Spooky Creatures in the Garden Saturday October 27, 8-9am members early entry; 9am-12pm general public

General admission applies.  Halloween activities: $3 per child members; $5 per child non-members
